Tau Sigma’s last semester was another great step towards a bigger and brighter future for the chapter. Striving for academic excellence, the chapter’s actives posted a 3.06 GPA, with the overall house GPA being a 2.84. This is a marked improvement from the previous semester and shows our continued commitment to cultivation of the intellect. Along with academics, recruitment has been rolling along this summer. As of right now, we have 22 signed pledges with an additional 8 bids currently extended. Membership for the fall after induction is expected to be around 30 pledges.
Along with improving our grades, we had several individuals get involved in great Beta leadership opportunities. Members Khayree Fitten ‘16 and Dean VanEvery ‘16 both attended the Wooden Institute. They both told me it was a very rewarding experience and full of great things to bring back to the active chapter. Also I (Josiah Ruhland ‘16) attended the Convention as the chapter’s delegate. The opportunity to work on a chartering committee was very humbling having just gone through the process ourselves. Two other brothers, Jon Miles ‘14 and Matt Gustin ’16, attended the Leadership College at convention, and were able to use the programming at the seminars to enhance their VP positions within the house. Overall, the Convention was a great opportunity to see Beta’s broad domain in action in the beautiful city of Charlotte.
